Loft01
Loft01 is a small and independent digital music distributor. We work with labels and artists and distribute their music to different music online stores such as iTunes, Beatport… We are based in Barcelona (Spain), therefore our main catalogue are local and national labels, but we also have some nice foreign labels.
Basically our job is to encode and deliver content of our labels into the specs and technical requirements of the online stores we work with. Then we process the payments for each label, aggregating all the different sale reports of all stores.
What we need:
Each online store we work with has its own way of encoding and processing the audio and metadata from the catalogue we represent. The content is processed in two main areas: Audio and Metadata info from the albums and tracks. We encode the audio with the different specs of each store, some need WAV files, others mp3 at different beat rates (320 kbps, 192 kbps..)
The metadata is processed mainly with excel: At Loft01 we have a metadata template that includes all the metadata and tag info from the different albums and tracks we encoded and are due to be delivered to the different stores.
But the stores we send the content process these metadata via XML, each different store has its own XML specs and schemas. SO what they need is for us to send them an XML file matching their specs and schemas in order to do a mass ingestion of metadata in their system.
What we need is to develop an application or method that uses an available XML processor (we can work with Altova XML) that converts our excel spreadsheet into XML files for each store we distribute too.
We will provide our excel metadata template and some of the XML specs and schemas from some of the stores we work with. Therefore what you would have to figure out is a way that would automatically convert our excel template into the different XML schemas of the different stores we distribute to.
I can send you a workflow of how the distribution and metadata processing works. Also I can send our excel metadata template and some of the XML templates and schemas of some of the stores. Please take into account that not all XML schemas are included, the system ideally should be able to integrate new XML schemas and templates from other online stores.
The process ends when the online stores send us the sale reports. These reports are many times sent also with an XML format, the system ideally should be able to process such XML specs and transform them into Excel files.
